Our Founding Directors:
Meet Bethany & Katherine

After crossing paths by chance, Bethany and Katherine (Kat) realized quickly that they shared a vision for musical excellence and relationship-driven ensemble building. Leaning into Kat’s incredible and engaging work with young voices and Bethany’s long-standing career with preteens and teenagers, they realized they had the unique opportunity to build a complete developmental pipeline for young singers. Together, they envisioned a space where age appropriate vocal pedagogy, challenging musical endeavors, and a community-centered atmosphere could all exist for singers in both of their areas of expertise, from preschoolers to high school seniors. By combining their specialized experience across all abilities and stages of development, Bethany and Kat have created Chesterfield Children's Choir, an environment that nurtures the whole child, from their very first note to their final senior performance.

Meet Bethany Wolfe

Founder and Artistic Director

About Bethany

A passionate advocate for the transformative power of choral music, Bethany has dedicated her career to cultivating young voices and building vibrant musical communities. With over 15 years of experience in the classroom and private studio, her choirs consistently earn superior ratings at state adjudications and have traveled both nationally and internationally, most recently to Toronto, Canada, in the spring of 2024. Her ensembles are widely regarded for their reliability and passion, valuing the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a musical "team."

In addition to her skill as a conductor, Bethany’s greatest strength is her ability to build meaningful relationships with her singers. Her relationship-first approach fosters genuine care for every child she directs, and she instinctively goes above and beyond to ensure students feel heard, safe, and celebrated.

Beyond the podium, Bethany is known for a pedagogical style that balances high-level vocal rigor with a deep sense of community. She received her Bachelor of Music in Education and her Bachelor of Music in Performance in 2012 from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She has served as lead high school choral director in the county she where she taught and served as Columbus County's High School All County Choral Clinician in 2017. She also received the Principal's Award for outstanding service to her school and community in 2024.

"My goal for CCC is to create a space where excellence is measured by more than individual talent," says Bethany. "It’s about the confidence students build and the connections they forge when they share their voices with the world and discover the profound joy of achieving ambitious artistic goals together."

When she isn't rehearsing or planning the next regional tour, Bethany enjoys homeschooling her two children, gold dredging with her husband, reading, spending time outdoors, and crocheting.

About Katherine

For more than twenty years, Katherine Oros has maintained a diverse career in early and elementary music education, vocal performance, and private music instruction. As a professional soprano section leader and soloist, she currently sings professionally at Second Presbyterian Church downtown Richmond and also serves as the Music Academy Coordinator at Salisbury Presbyterian Church in Midlothian. Kat volunteers every week teaching preschool at Chester United Methodist Church and organized a concert for gun reform with Moms Demand Action as the beneficiary in October 2024. Kat directed the Hanover All-County Chorus in April 2025, a group of 170 5th graders.

She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Shorter College (Rome, GA), a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from Florida State University, in 2023 earned Level 1 certification at Shenandoah University’s CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute, and completed LoVetri Somatic Voicework Level 1 in Ohio in 2024.

Katherine taught Riley Johnston, who went on to tour as Shrek in Shrek the Musical after earning a BFA from Shenandoah, Hannah Spaulding, who has performed at King’s Dominion and cruise ships, and most “notably” Tommy Richman, whose Million Dollar Baby was #2 on Billboard in 2024.

"My mission for our youngest ensembles is to spark a lifelong love for music through joyful, high quality instruction," says Kat. "In the Town Choir, we aren't just singing songs, we are building the technical and social foundations that allow children to thrive as they grow into the musicians of tomorrow."

When she isn’t at the podium or organizing local music programs, Kat is a distance runner, a community volunteer with the JFWCC, and a self-described nap enthusiast. She lives in Chesterfield with her husband, Dan, whose cooking she greatly enjoys, their two sons, Grant and Blake, and Chopper, their infamously gassy Boston Terrier.
